The Hidden Connection Between Manifestation and Trauma
How Unresolved Trauma Can Block the Process of Manifestation
We’ve all heard that in order to manifest effectively, we need a clear vision, strong belief in ourselves, and a positive mindset. While these are essential, there’s a factor that can significantly impact our ability to manifest. That factor is trauma.
I’ve touched on this in a previous post, but I’m going more in depth this time because trauma can be a significant factor when you’re working on manifesting the life you want to be living.
We tend to want things to happen quickly, so we look for shortcuts to make things happen. But when it comes to manifestation there are no secrets or fast tracks, only the willingness to go deep within for the answers.
Whether the trauma is emotional, physical, or psychological, it can become deeply embedded in our subconscious and this influences our beliefs, emotions, and energy. Even when we consciously try to manifest something positive, unresolved trauma can work against us. It’s kind of like trying to run a race while carrying a heavy backpack. No matter how much effort we put in, something unseen is slowing us down.
But manifestation isn’t just about what we consciously want.
It’s also about what we unconsciously believe and feel. We are always manifesting our reality, and trauma can shape these unconscious patterns. This affects the energy we put out into the world and, in turn, the results we experience.
" Worrying is using your imagination to create something you do not want. "
- Esther Hicks
How Trauma Affects the Subconscious Mind
Our subconscious mind is what’s behind our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Think of it like a computer program that is quietly storing every experience, belief and memory, and it’s constantly running in the background to generate our thoughts and perceptions. Many of these may be shaped by trauma. This then creates the reality we live in.
Here’s a few ways that trauma can interfere with the process of manifestation:
1. Negative Beliefs About Yourself and the World
If we’ve experienced trauma, we may have internalized beliefs such as:
“I’m not worthy.”
“I don’t deserve success or happiness.”
“The world is unsafe.”
These beliefs send out an energetic signal that contradicts what we consciously desire. For example, if you’re trying to manifest financial abundance but unconsciously believe you’re undeserving, you may find yourself struggling to attract opportunities, or sabotaging your success.
2. Emotional Blocks
Unresolved trauma often leaves behind energetic blocks that interfere with manifestation. Feelings of anger, sadness, guilt, or shame create resistance. This makes it difficult to align with the frequencies of gratitude, joy and abundance needed to manifest effectively.
3. The Need for Control
Trauma can make us feel powerless and lead to a strong need for control. This can affect the manifestation process if we try to force outcomes instead of trusting the universe’s timing. In reality, true manifestation requires a balance of intention and surrender, and that is something that can feel deeply uncomfortable for someone who has experienced trauma. I know this was definitely the case for me.
These things are happening on an unconscious level so most of the time we are not even aware that we are blocking the things we want to manifest. Instead, we give up and think that the process doesn’t work.
"Most people are thinking about what they don't want, and they're wondering why it shows up over and over again."
- John Assaraf
Trauma Can Keep Us Stuck in Lower Vibrations
Trauma doesn’t just have an influence on the subconscious mind. It also impacts our energetic field. When our energy is stuck in trauma based patterns and lower vibrational emotions, we continue to attract situations that reflect those unresolved wounds.
This is why someone with a history of trauma might continuously manifest experiences of failure, rejection, or disappointment, even though they’re trying to manifest success or love.
The Law of Vibration tells us that our emotions and beliefs vibrate at a specific frequency, and that frequency attracts similar frequencies from the universe. If our emotional state is consistently low due to unresolved trauma, we will attract low vibrational circumstances, relationships, and outcomes.
The Path to Healing and Manifesting
I know this sounds like a lot, and it is. But the good news is, healing is possible. As we work through trauma, we’ll not only feel freer and more empowered, but we’ll also find that our ability to manifest improves dramatically. And here’s why:
1. Healing Opens the Energy Flow
By addressing our emotional wounds and limiting beliefs, we remove energetic blocks that have been holding us back. This allows our energy to flow more freely, making it easier to attract what we desire.
2. Shifting Beliefs to Align with Abundance
Healing helps rewire and shift beliefs from scarcity and unworthiness to abundance and possibility. As our energy begins to flow more freely and these beliefs change, our energy aligns with higher frequencies, allowing us to manifest more effectively.
3. Moving from Fear to Inspired Action
When trauma is unresolved, fear and self-sabotage often control our choices without us even realizing it. Healing allows us to step into a place of empowerment, where we take inspired action toward our goals rather than being driven by fear, doubts or self-sabotage.
If you think trauma or past negative experiences are affecting your ability to manifest the life you truly want to be living but are unsure about where to begin, I’ve got you covered.
Identifying Your Manifestation Blocks
It all starts with taking some time to reflect on the areas in our life where we feel stuck, and consider how past trauma or negative experiences may be influencing our ability to manifest.
Here are a few questions we can reflect on:
What negative beliefs do I hold about myself, success, or love?
Are there past experiences that still affect my confidence or energy today?
In what areas do I feel like I’m working against myself when trying to manifest my desires?
It’s not always easy to be honest with ourselves, but it is essential to work through whatever may be blocking the manifestation process. Reflecting on our thoughts and writing about them in a journal can be extremely beneficial. If answers don’t come immediately, that’s okay. Self-awareness is a process.
Simply by acknowledging and addressing trauma based manifestation blocks, we’re taking the first step towards transforming our energy and creating the life we truly desire.
"If you can dream it, you can do it."
- Walt Disney
Raising Your Vibration
While it’s important to identify the beliefs and energetic blocks that may be holding us back, it’s equally important to raise our energetic vibration.
Once we begin identifying and addressing our blocks, our vibration will naturally begin to rise. However, there are things we can do to help raise our vibration while we’re working through any past trauma and there are many ways to raise our vibration.
Here’s a few things that will help:
1. Practice Gratitude
Taking a few moments to focus on what you already have in your life that you’re grateful for helps to shift your energy from lack to abundance. Gratitude is one of the most important things in the manifestation process. Sometimes it can be difficult to feel gratitude when we’re caught up in the low frequency emotions that trauma brings, so keep it simple. Maybe today we’re grateful for the warm sunshine, or our favourite movie.
2. Spend Time in Nature
Being in nature helps to ground us and connect with higher frequencies. Nature naturally vibrates at higher frequencies, so when we’re in nature we absorb that energy. Taking a walk in a park or on a nature trail, feeling the sun shining on our face or touching a tree can help elevate our energy.
3. Move Your Body
Energy needs to flow and movement helps to release stagnant energy. Any movement is helpful. Yoga, dancing, walking, stretching or simply standing up and shaking out the tension will help. Any physical movement will help energy flow and raise our vibration.
4. Meditation and Mindful Breathing
Sitting in meditation, even if it’s just for a few minutes, can bring clarity and calmness which leads to a higher energetic state. If you don’t like the idea of meditation, try some deep breathing instead. A good technique to try is heart centred breathing. Imagine breathing in and out through your heart and just notice your breath as it flows in and out of your body. Heart centred breathing is a powerful technique for the manifestation process, as it aligns our hearts and minds.
I hope this has provided you with some insight on the process of manifestation. It’s important to know that there are no secrets or “hacks” to speed up the process.
Healing and manifestation go hand in hand. This isn’t to say we need to be fully healed in order to manifest our dreams and desires, not at all. But rather, it’s about developing the awareness to understand our energetic blocks, and how to move through those blocks in order to free up valuable energy for the manifestation process.
Doing this work heals our past wounds and also reshapes our future. As we heal, we naturally begin to align with the energy of abundance, love, and success, which is how we turn our dreams into reality.
Remember, your vibration is the magnet for your dreams!

PS: this post is a little snapshot of the book I’m currently writing. The book is all about energy, frequency, and vibration and how healing from trauma and manifestation are connected. I explore how shifting our energetic state is the key to both recovering from trauma and unlocking the manifestation process. I’ll help readers uncover the limiting beliefs that may be blocking their manifestations, boost self confidence and elevate their frequency to align with the life they truly want to be living. Healing isn’t just about the past, it’s the gateway to creating the future.
